The 2018 Rookies Are Nearly Here

Seems like yesterday was the Super Bowl, and here we are — another NFL draft is upon us! Who will land the next Leonard Fournette, Kareem Hunt or Deshaun Watson?

Here’s some helpful info as to what to expect at Fleaflicker.com in regards to rookies:

#1: When are NFL rookies added?
NFL rookies are added to our player listing within 24-48 hours of the time they drafted, and then they’ll be evaluated and added to the overall rankings as quickly as possible. Undrafted free agents are added at the start of training camps. If you are looking to set up a rookie draft next week, May 1 or later is a safe bet!

#2: How can I spot rookies on Fleaflicker?Screen Shot 2017-03-27 at 2.38.47 PM
NFL rookies can be easily spotted as they will have graduation cap icons next to their name during their first season. You will also notice that they don’t have stats listed from previous seasons like returning players.

#3: Is there anything new on Fleaflicker this spring?
We are glad you asked! Taxi Squads have just arrived, in addition to new NFL scoring categories AND brand-new positions.

QOTW: Holding Two Drafts in a Redraft League

Question of the Week: Is it possible for me to do a startup draft and then have a separate draft for rookies only? We plan to do an email draft.

Answer: Yes, this is doable in redraft leagues! Below is an example flow to follow that works well with email drafts:

1) Set your roster requirements for total number of roster spots you want to fill  via League Settings > Edit Roster Requirements (startup roster + rookie roster = total roster spots)

QOTW: All-Star Games Scheduling

Question of the Week: Is it possible to nix the short week and/or combine weeks on Fleaflicker given the all-star games?

Answer: In daily sports (MLB, NBA, and NHL), a short week may be combined with the next week only at the start or end of a season. (From the Owner’s Manual)

As a workaround, Commissioners can to remove match-ups for the week of the All-Star festivities altogether, so that it’s a “bye week” of sorts for the league. No fantasy games happen in your league that week, so no owners can be affected negatively.  Continue reading “QOTW: All-Star Games Scheduling”

QOTW: Limiting Draft Rounds

Question of the Week: We are starting a new dynasty league with 30 players rostered. How can we have draft picks only limited to 5 rounds and not 30?

Answer: Once your league owners all set their keepers, you will see their number of viable picks reduce. For each keeper an owner sets, that is one less draft pick. So, in a league with 30 players on each roster, you would want each owner to set 25 keepers which will perfectly set you up for a 5-round draft.  Continue reading “QOTW: Limiting Draft Rounds”

For Love of the Game: New MLB Scoring Rules

pexels-photo-139762 (2)As MLB players report to spring training, we are excited to share about the addition of seven new scoring rules that commissioners can consider adding for the 2018 fantasy baseball season:

  1. Net wins (wins minus losses)
  2. Wins + quality starts
  3. Blown saves
  4. Double plays turned (DPT)
  5. Fielding percentage (FPCT)
  6. Save opportunities (SOP)
  7. Total chances

New Feature: Allow $0 Bids (Or Don’t!)

New this year to Fleaflicker is the ability to allow or disallow $0 bids in blind bidding (FAAB) waiver auctions. So commissioners,  if you prefer to ensure all of your owners are bidding at least $1 for players, visit League Settings > Edit Waiver Wire Rules to update this setting to No. Or, keep it set to the default Yes if you are fine with $0 bids.

We hope this gives commissioners added flexibility in any FAAB leagues!

QOTW: Opening Free Agency Pre-Draft

Question of the Week: How do I open the player pool for waivers to run once a week and once a week only? Right now the draft hasn’t happened so all players are locked.

Answer: To open up free agency prior to your draft in a keeper league, you will need to go to League Settings > Edit Rosters, and select “These are complete rosters” in the bottom Keeper Options section and click Save. This will open up the player pool and you can adjust your waiver wire rules as needed.
