The official details as to how the NHL plans to complete the 2019-2020 season have been shared on NHL.com. “The NHL announced its Return to Play Plan on Tuesday with 24 teams in competition for the Stanley Cup. The tournament will begin with a 16-team, eight-series Qualifying Round and a Seeding Round Robin among the top four teams in each conference to determine seeds for the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The NHL paused the regular season March 12 due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus and its remaining 189 games will not be completed. The 12 qualifying teams from the Eastern and Western conferences were determined by points percentage as of that date. Seven teams did not qualify.”

Fleaflicker’s fantasy league experience is designed to complete before the start of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. Therefore, we plan to officially bring the NHL fantasy season to a close. For now, leagues may see the top ranked team with the championship trophy, however our plan is to remove the trophy as the season will be considered incomplete.

While we don’t have that capability for commissioners to designate a specific team as the season champion via the tool at this time, if you do want to declare a champion for the 2019-2020 season, we recommend sharing the news via the Commissioner’s Note and posting the details in the league forum.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@fleaflicker.com. Thank you for playing fantasy hockey on Fleaflicker this season, and we look forward the start of the 2020-2021 season; leagues will be able to be activated this summer!

*Wondering about the 2019-2020 NBA season? We are still waiting for the official final plan from the NBA. Once we have that, we’ll be able to share our plans for fantasy basketball leagues.
